Position Overview
As a Senior Game Designer at Hydra Games, you'll be the guardian of the creative maestro behind our games. We might be small, but our dreams are big, and we need someone as passionate as us to turn those dreams into reality. Responsibilities
- Lead the design of core game systems and mechanics, ensuring they are engaging, balanced, and align with the overall game vision.
- Develop and articulate game design concepts and features, work alongside other game designers to assist in the creative processes of game ideas, problem-solving, and refining concepts.
- Drive innovation in gameplay, creating unique and memorable experiences that captivate players and stand out in the market.
- Work closely with artists, developers to integrate design elements and ensure a cohesive and polished final product.
- Create prototypes of game mechanics and systems, and oversee playtesting to refine and improve the gameplay experience.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including game design documents, level design specs, and user stories.
- Gather and analyse player feedback, and iteratively refine game design to enhance player satisfaction and game quality.
- Proactively find problems within the gameplay and provide data-driven solutions.
- Provide mentorship and support to junior developers, fostering their professional growth.
Requirements
- Proficient in spoken and written English; fluency is not mandatory but clarity is crucial.
- Demonstrated 1-3 years of experience in a Senior Game Designer role.
- Extensive experience in game design with a strong portfolio of commercially released projects.
- Proven ability to design engaging and balanced gameplay mechanics.
- Experience in game engine software such as Unity, Unreal or similar is a plus.
- Strong understanding of game design principles, including player psychology, game balance, and user experience.
- Possessing a creative mindset, exceptional logical and analytical capabilities, adept at adopting a player's perspective, and maintaining organisation under pressure.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and creativity.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts and ideas effectively.
- A deep passion for gaming and a strong desire to create fun and engaging experiences for players.
